Texture, Value and Line

Part One:
On a blank sheet in your sketchbooks, re-create the still-life of this pear in pencil.
Think about the light source and where the light is coming from.
Using your colour wheel, choose coloured pastels to show the variations of light through your value scale.
When using oil pastels be sure to colour your work hard onto the page and colour in all blank, white spaces for even colouring. Add your dark and light colour tones to create value and texture to your work of art.

Part Two:
Re-create this pear drawing in pencil. This time, using newspaper or magazine pieces, (like the far right example), rip out pieces and collage your work. Be sure to use dark and light coloured newspaper or magazines to show your light source and value scale.

Multi-Textured Still Life

Picture
On a blank sheet of sketchbook paper, re-create an image of simple still-life.
Draw the simple lines and outline of the image, without adding line details, shading or textures.
Once your still-life outline is drawn, use a ruler to create equal spaced lines horizontally across your page. Space the lines about an inch wide from one-another.
Use an inch of space on your ruler as well, creating lines vertically across your page.
Outline your still-life in ink pen so you can use the guidelines to create your ink textures.
Using pen and ink, create various line drawings, drawing different techniques and designs within each of the squares and still-life lines.

Be sure to create the line designs differently in each section.
