Non-Traditional Self-Portrait

This project gives you the opportunity to explore and create your self-image using a variety of images and texts; students are able to consider what visual representations are true to themselves.  Students will express important aspects of their personality and sense of self, and reflect on what they have discovered about themselves and create meaning in their artworks.

Self-portraits are representations of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist, whereas a Non-Traditional Self-Portrait is still created by the artist, however their facial features and “photographic-like” representations of the self are manipulated, using different elements of description, (there is more to the self then a representational portrait).

A collage (for this lesson): a work of art, made from an collection of different magazine images, texts, sizes and colours.
The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century.

Choose a colour, Describe the Colour in THREE words
Choose a personality outline (in order of appearance, introvert, inbetween, extrovert)
Do the Gardner Multiple Intelligence Quiz
