Inspirations from Van Gogh
Natural Form

Lesson Objectives: How can I create an object in nature using Van Gogh's line technique in tissue paper?
How can I make my object appear stylized in a natural form genre?

Van Gogh and many other artists used their natural surroundings as inspiration for their works.

Remember, Natural Form is a style where the artist represents an object found in nature.

Use Van Gogh's work (lines to show movement, pattern and texture), as inspiration
to re-create these natural forms into textured works of art.
Step One: Choose one of the following images to re-create.

Step Two: Draw the outline of the image in a blank page of your sketchbook.
Step Three: Instead of painting your work, use Van Gogh's texture and line techniques to re-create your images using tissue paper. Choose the appropriate colours in tissue paper, and carefully craft sections of the tissue paper into smaller bits and roll them into different lines.
Step Four: Complete your work by covering the entirety of your blank page in lines of tissue paper.
Step Five: Be sure your work is neatly presented and completed with your name and date at the back of the page.
