Cubism and Abstraction

Cubism: Artists in the 20th century take objects and break them up and reassemble them in an abstract form (changing the view points)
Abstract Art: Depiction of forming line and colour to change the reality of an object, creating a visual reference of the world (emotion)

Blind Contour Drawing: (Selection of Four Images)
60 Second Intervals to draw their image without looking at their paper do 3-4 images (drawn with a lighter colour pastel)
Choose ONE of the colour combinations from the wheel in the drawings (primary OR secondary OR intermediate OR complimentary)
Re-work the drawing until they feel like the drawing is complete

Collaborative Abstractions (Working with Others to Create Art)

In groups of 5 people (randomly selected)
Using one of the other blind contour images drawn (from each group member)
Each person will have an image to start with, and ONE pastel colour from the colour wheel, similar to previous lesson.
With 60 seconds to complete their tasks each time, I will announce at the beginning of each section students will:

Draw circles anywhere on the page
Colour in whichever area or lines of the page
Add connecting lines to the lines that are already on the page, thick or thin
Draw shapes over lapping the picture
Colour in one kind of shape in your colour (ex: triangle)
Do whatever you want to add or colour in
