WHAT WILL YOU CREATE TO MAKE THE WORLD AWESOME?
NOTHIN' IF YOU JUST KEEP SITTIN' THERE!
That's why I'm talking to you today.
This is YOUR time, this is MY time, this is OUR time.
We can make everyday better for each other.
If we are all on the same team, let's start acting like it!
We've got work to do!
We can cry about it, OR we can DANCE about it.
You were MADE to be awesome.
LET'S GET OUT THERE!
Miss D's Classroom Expectations For Success!:
1. R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Respect One Another. This Includes:
a) Listening intentively and show respect to your teacher while she is teaching you.
b) Respecting your other classmates by listening to their opinions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should not be talked over, called names, or made to feel bad about how they feel, for you wouldn't want someone to treat you in that manner when you have something to say.
*This means, no outside conversations, disruptions and talking over your peers. They will treat you with the same courtesy.
c) Offensive language, rudeness and disrespect whether verbally or physically will simply
NOT be tolerated in any form*.
2. Do It Right Or DO IT TWICE!
The work you hand in and complete in this class is a reflection of your marks and the level you will recieve on your targets. Your work is also a reflection of you and your efforts in this class. If your work is not completed correctly, is too messy to understand, or simply shows no effort or willingness to try, you will re-do your work properly again.
*Presentation is extremely important in everything you do in life; especially in the art and design field*.
3. Work SMARTER, Not Harder.
Do your work right the FIRST time. Put in the effort, put in the time. Use your time wisely and complete your tasks on time. Don't put it off... (it creates more work for yourself in the end). Good things come to those who work HARD and NEVER give up!
Always Put Forth Your Best Efforts!
What Is The Best Tool For YOU* To Use?

Breaking Down Assessment, (How Will You Be Graded?)
How Will You Know If You Are Doing Well?
Learning Objectives Year 7 Visual Arts:

In the Art and Design subject, low technical skills, low motor skills and low confidence levels are a frequent obstacle for student progress throughout KS3 and later. For this reason, it is paramount that a ‘back to basics’ SOW is created to address these problems. If basic skills are taught first at the beginning of year 7, then students can begin to develop their imagination, ideas, and creativity in the coming years without the hindrance of technical difficulties. This is the order in which art has been taught throughout art history: technical
skills first, creativity, ideas and independent learning later – not the other way around. -A. Alemdar
By the end of the term, Year Seven will not only be able to understand the basic elements of art, but will also be able to put them into practice,; experimentation with lines and colour to colour blending, rendering different shades and tones and understanding the ideas behind perspective.
Students will begin looking at different famous artists' style and a brief history behind their work, and becoming introduced to a variety of medium and ways in which to create different works of art, as well as begin to think critically about their own work and putting into practice the basics behind their works.
This is where students will learn more about themselves through hard work, effort, repetition, reflection, collaboration and experimentation.

Learning Objectives Year 7 Graphics

By the end of the term. Year Seven will understand how to create one point-perspective and line drawings using rulers without prompting.
Students will have experimented and researched ways of line-hand drawing and design techniques, including the introduction of various fonts which will appeal to their audience of choice.
Year seven will understand the importance of their audience when it comes to producing and selling a product and will know the basic measures companies and graphic designers go through in order to produce the perfect graphics to represent and advertise their company.
Students will not only be able to put their basic graphic skills into practice they will understand why these steps are needed within a real-world practice.
Lastly, students will be able to create 3-Dimensional, one-point perspective drawings in 2D design, as well as learning to create their own designs through basic photoshop skills in order to sell a CD or DVD cover to their audience of choice.

Learning Objectives Year 8 Graphics

By the end of term Year Eight will understand one-point perspective of shapes, as well as create the letters of their names in a one-point perspective view, understanding the vanishing point and importance of measurement and straight lines.
Students will use their knowledge to understand the significance and importance in rendering their graphics, viewing the vanishing point as their light source or focal point to visualize their shapes and objects in a 3-Dimensional way.
Students will explore ideas of composition and design, discovering how layout can become the cause of success within a product in order to sell and advertise for it within the real-world. Students will be able to understand their audience and the importance of the design and layout becomes the most important aspect in advertising, in order to attract and draw in their specific audiences to sell the product.
Students will advance their skills in 2D design, learning how nets are created and put together in association with the product and layout they are creating, including tessellations and patterning details.
Lastly, students will experiment with the variety of ways graphic designers plan, create, re-create, draw, re-draw, improve and develop their designs for submission, and understand why products must be analysed in order for these steps to be successful within the real world.

Learning Objectives Year 9 Graphics

By the end of the term, Year Nine will understand the importance of rendering and shading within their digital works.
Students will progress to complete images in two-point perspective, advancing from their understanding of one-point perspective in creating shapes and objects.
Students will understand the use of Logos and how companies represent themselves to the public eye, including the components of their design and why companies use Logos as a mini-advert of themselves and their products.
Students will also be introduced to the importance of font and writing styles, orthography and the various ways to represent words and letters to create graphical meaning.
Within the lessons of logos and writing styles, students will also study symbols and images of represention, which logos possess.
Using the knowledge of why companies use logos and the four reasons to advertise their products, students will examine cable-less mobile adverts in attempts to see the significance of design.
Photoshop skills will be used to put their knowledge into practice and create their own cable-less mobile in 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional design, that would be useful within a real-world setting, bringing knowledge into practice; text-world and text-self views.

Learning Objectives Year 12 Visual Arts

Throughout Year 12, students will learn how to develop their ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. Students will use their developments in art to experiment with and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques, and processes. Reviewing and refining their ideas as their work develops. Further to experimentation, students will begin to record in visual and/or other forms, ideas, observations and insights, relevent to their work intentions. This will allow students to demonstrate their ability to reflect on their work and progress. Lastly, students will use the above knowledge and skills gained to present personal and meaningful responses to their studies and work, which will demonstrate their critical understanding, realising intentions and where appropriate, making connections between visual, oral and other elements.
Learning Objectives Year 13 Visual Arts

Students who returrn for sixth form will study art with more independent ambition. Students will choose amongst 3-4 artists' who inspire them and their work. These artists must be consistent with the intentions of the students' work. Each student will participate in a 3-4 month personal study, collecting research, understanding the artist and their work, experiementing with different art styles and contextualizing their own work in relation to the artists who inspire them. Students will also write a personal essay including an introduction, body and conclusion, which will contain their research in comparission to their developments and journey as an artist. This response will be meaningful, demonstrating their critical understanding, intentions, and connections to allow the student to demonstrate their ability to reflect and expand on their work and progress.
